2010 Winter Olympics

The Olympics are coming to Camp Bow-Isle!

(OK, that may be a bit of a stretch, but they ARE coming to our backyard!)

From February 12 - 28, 2010, the Games of the XXI Winter Olympiad will be held in locations from Vancouver to Whistler, and Camp Bow-Isle will have the best seats in the house!

Located right between the two primary venues, Bowen Island will provide you and your family with easy access to all the Olympic event locations, and provide a sheltered, tucked-away refuge from the excitement when you return.

In accordance with Camp Bow-Isle's mission statement and practices, no alcohol, smoking or drugs will be permitted on the property, and the highest personal standards regarding language and behaviour will be observed. We want everyone to have a fun, safe time with friends and family members.

We are pleased to provide the following levels of accommodation to all Christian Scientists and their families and friends for the following suggested donation amounts:

1) Rustic accommodation: $30 per person/per night ~ no minimum number of nights. Most of the accommodations at Camp Bow-Isle fall into this category. Included in this price is a simple continental breakfast. Sleeping arrangements will be Spartan: sleeping bags on camp mattresses in the Big A. The Fireplace Room will be quite warm if the fire is maintained, while the rest of the Big A will be quite cool outside the immediate vicinity of the wood stove. Washrooms are located in an adjacent building.

2) Bunkhouse Accommodation in "Tweaks": $60 per person/per night ~ based on double occupancy (minimum). Three nights minimum stay. "Tweaks" has two rooms that will sleep six people, including two in the loft on camp mattresses. It also has one room that will sleep four. Although not completely winterized, "Tweaks" offers some privacy and comfortable beds. A basic continental breakfast, as above, is included. Washrooms are located in an adjacent building.

3) Winterized Accommodation in the Quiet House: $150 per person/per night based on double occupancy (minimum). A third, fourth or fifth person will be billed at $60 per person/per night. Five people maximum. Three nights minimum stay. The Quiet House is a separate self-contained cottage with a wood stove, washroom with shower and heated floors, and a small kitchen. Sleeps three in beds and two in the loft on camp mattresses. A  basic breakfast is included as above.

When you're not off watching the games, you are invited to stoke the fire in the Big A, grab a cup of hot chocolate and a good book, play games of your own, hike, visit the galleries of Bowen Island, or just hang out here at camp. We won't have any programs going on, so you will have time to make your own fun! A light continental breakfast is included in the prices above; other meals are on your own. Cook your own food here at camp or try out our local restaurants.

Ticketholders can either take a Greyhound Bus from Horseshoe Bay to Whistler, or go on Olympic buses departing from North Vancouver each day.

For those attending events in Vancouver, a public bus will meet passengers from ferries in Horseshoe Bay and take them to a central bus station, where they can catch a bus to local events.

We hope you will consider visiting to enjoy some Olympic Spirit, Camp Bow-Isle style!
